Another ‘Hachiko’ story is touching hearts online after videos of Kilay, an aspin (asong pinoy) made the rounds online.

Apparently, this native dog is amusing people in the Polambato Port in Bogo City with his cute antics as he helps porters secure the rope from each boat that docks in the port.

However, there’s more to Kilay than the entertainment he spreads on social media.

In a feature, the Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho team shared the touching story of Kilay.

It turns out that Kilay isn’t really a Bogo City dog. Rather, it was left there by its master due to work reasons and for three months, the poor fur baby had been waiting for its master to return; hence, the real reason why Kilay would wait near the shoreline and eagerly welcome each boat that docks.

He was always hoping for his master ‘Mingming’ to come and take him along again. Is there hope for Kilay? Will his master return to take him back?

From Chokoy to Kilay

In the story gathered by KMJS, Kilay was originally named ‘Chokoy’ by his master Mingming. The dog was originally from Allen, Samar and Mingming is a crew member of a passenger vessel, LiteFerry 29, which travels from Matnog Port in Sorsogon to Polambato Port in Bogo City. Chokoy used to travel with Mingming back then.

In time the management issued strict orders prohibiting dogs in the  vessel; whereby the owner of Chokoy was told to leave the dog when they docked at the Polambato Port.

Mingming entrusted his dog to a friend there and since then Chokoy became ‘Kilay’.

Although many adored Kilay and took care of him, still, the fur baby longed to see his master again and would wait at the port. More than three months had passed and during that span, Kilay was brought to the dog pound which was near the shoreline as dogs are not allowed on the port.

One of those who cared for Kilay revealed that each time a vessel comes or passes by, the poor dog would loudly wail. Because Kilay was a tame and sweet dog, officials of Polambato took pity on him and allowed him back to the port where he became everybody’s ‘baby.’

Kilay seems to be loving all the care and attention he gets, but at times he was seen so lonely and had no appetite while staring at the sea; seemingly stilll longing for his master.

The team of KMJS did what they could for the two to reunite!
