Long before she became one of the biggest stars in Philippine entertainment, actress Bea Alonzo was one of the lovely young ladies trying to win the Binibining Santolan 2001 crown.

Not long before she became an actress, Bea Alonzo — one of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry — was a beauty queen.

On different social media platforms, photos of Bea during the Bb. Santolan 2001 pageant are being uploaded, giving fans the joy of looking back on the actress’ humble beginnings.

“Bb. Santolan 2001,” read the caption of one of the pages who shared her pageant photo.

Through her vlog, Bea earlier shared that it was actually discovered at that pageant, “I was discovered in a beauty contest. Nakakahiya. I joined this contest in Pasig called Mutya Ng Pasig, Binibining Santolan back in 2001 and then one of the judges there was Mr. Oscar Peralta.”

“He is a designer and best friend niya si Archie Ilagan who became my manager. And then he made me audition sa ABS-CBN Talent Center pa nu’ng time na ‘yun. Hindi pa Star Magic,” she continued. “Nakasakay ko sa elevator si Ms. Mariole Alberto and she asked me if I wanted to audition and the rest is history.”

Some of Bea’s first series include Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, It Might Be You, Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin, Maging Sino Ka Man, and Maging Sino Ka Man: Ang Pagbabalik.

In 2007, she played the role of Basha in the film One More Chance, which eventually became iconic. The sequel of the movie, A Second Chance, was released in 2015.

This 2022, Bea will lead the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean series Start-up.
