The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has issued its decision to suspend the noon-time show ‘It’s Showtime’ for 12 airing days.

In a statement, MTRCB said it received “multiple complaints” concerning ‘It’s Showtime’s’ July 25, 2023 episode wherein “the program’s hosts allegedly acted in an indecent manner during one of its segments, ‘Isip Bata.’”

The complaints were referred to the MTRCB’s Hearing and Adjudication Committee, which has heard the case and required respondents to submit their position papers.

The respondents may still file a Motion for Reconsideration within 15 days upon receipt of the decision, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 1986.

“Should the Board’s Decision be adverse to the respondent’s MR, they may appeal to the Office of the President within fifteen (15) days from the receipt of the decision on the MR,” MTRCB added.

On July 31, the MTRCB released a statement saying that it issued a Notice to Appear and Testify to It’s Showtime’s producers following complaints about “scenes that portrayed alleged indecent acts by hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.”

The MTRCB explained that this is not the first time that the show was given a preventive suspension order as ‘It’s Showtime’ was given a 20-day preventive suspension in 2010.

In its statement, the MTRCB also cited other instances wherein the show received warnings, including their January 24 and June 3, 2023 episodes after some program hosts uttered inappropriate words.

It also enumerated complaints lodged against the show, which the MTRCB dismissed “in the spirit of fairness and equity.”
