Up to this day, the world fondly remembers Japan’s loyal dog Hachiko, who waited for nearly a decade in hopes of reuniting with his former owner. But in his little world outside the Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital‘s morgue, where he got his new name “Morgan”, a senior dog was able to touch many lives as he hoped for his late fur parent’s return for more than a year.

Through a Facebook reel, the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) shared the story of Morgan, who stayed outside the hospital’s morgue thinking that his owner was still coming back to bring him home.

“He was named Morgan because he waited outside the morgue of MCU Hospital. His owner died more than a year ago but he still waited every day,” the AKF said. “He still thinks his master is coming back for him.”

According to the family of his former owner, they tried to bring him home but he kept returning to that spot outside the hospital.

The people around him, especially the ones who know his story, have been kind to him, giving him food and, most of all, love. Guards, doctors, and hospital staff looked after him. They also opted not to call the pound fearing that he would eventually be euthanized.

Despite receiving love and care outside the MCU Hospital, the AKF believes that a loyal dog like Morgan deserves a real home, and a new fur parent to fill the void in his heart. The foundation took him last October 8 to prepare him for his new chapter.

“No creature on earth can match the loyalty of dogs,” the AKF expressed.
