“Will you allow this to just keep happening?” actress and animal welfare advocate Carla Abellana asked, crying for help to #EndTheDogMeatTrade following recent raids.
In her Facebook and Instagram posts, Carla called the public’s attention to take part in ending the dog meat trade, an illegal activity that continues to make dogs suffer in different parts of the country.
“I use my platform so that you are aware of what happens around your neighborhood every single day. Because if you’re not aware, then how can you help put an end to such things?” she wrote in the caption of the photos she uploaded.
The pictures were that of a dog named “Spot”, one of the victims of a recent dog meat trade. Carla reposted the original caption of the images from Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), as well.
MY NAME IS SPOT.
I SUFFERED A SLOW, PAINFUL DEATH.
Do you see I have a collar? YES, I WAS SOMEONE’S PET. Sadly, THEY SOLD ME, to be SLAUGHTERED, for my MEAT.
In exchange of a few hundred pesos that my owners got, I had to go through an agonizing death.
MY LIMBS WERE FORCIBLY TIED BEHIND MY BACK. I HEARD MY BONES CRACK. Then I was PUT INSIDE A SACK. I was GASPING FOR AIR, until I can no longer breathe, then everything just turned black. . . I SUFFOCATED AND DIED.
WHAT DID I DO? WHY DID I HAVE TO DIE? I ONLY HAVE PURE LOVE TO GIVE TO MY HUMANS, OH, I CALL THEM MY FAMILY BY THE WAY.
I PRAY THAT NO MORE DOGS WILL HAVE TO SUFFER LIKE ME.
PLEASE DON’T FORGET MY NAME, MY NAME IS SPOT.
The actress’ fans and fellow celebrities went emotional after seeing her post. Some even mentioned that animal welfare laws must now be revisited.
#EndTheDogMeatTrade
Raising awareness, Carla added the details of bank accounts and other e-wallets where supporters can extend financial support for the cause.
To note, the AKF uses the fund to continue rescuing animals and raising awareness not only when it comes to the dog meat trade, but also on other forms of animal cruelty and neglect.
