Sa pagkislap pa lang ng mga mata ni Deok Sun sa tuwing mababanggit ang pangalan ni Taek, sa bawat pagsulyap niya sa tuwing may pagbubukas ng pinto, alam na ni Jung Hwan na tapos na ang laban. May nanalo na—at hindi iyon siya.

At lalo niyang napatunayan iyon sa pagko-confess niya kay Deok Sun. May kulang sa mga ngiti nito. Walang kislap sa mga mata. Batid niyang hindi maganda ang kahihinatnan panindigan man niya o sabihing prank lang ang confession niya.

It took a number of replays before I finally accepted Jung Hwan’s defeat. Seeing all his efforts, not to mention iyong bonggang chemistry nila ni Deok Sun, siguro understandable naman kung bakit marami sa atin ang inatake ng Second Lead Syndrome.

Nakita kasi natin lahat ng efforts ni Jung Hwan. Sobrang sweet. Nakakakilig. Knight in shining armor pa ang peg.

Nakita natin—pero si Deok Sun, nakita ba? Hindi siya bulag. Hindi rin siya manhid. Nalito siya.

Urong-sulong si Jung Hwan. Imagine, all those years never naging sure si Deok Sun kung ano ba talaga ang nararamdaman nito o kung may nararamdaman man lang ba ito. Maraming tanong sa loob ng ilang taon. Sino ba ang hindi mapapagod maghanap ng mga sagot?

Sa tunay na buhay, hindi ka lang dapat handang magmahal. Handa ka rin dapat magpahayag, magparamdam, magpakatotoo, sumugal, at makipaglaban.

Jung Hwan was right when he said, “He [Taek] wanted her more than I did. I should have been more courageous. It was not the traffic light nor the timing. My countless hesitations were to blame.”

Deok Sun deserves better.

Taek deserves her.
